Between shadow and stone.
Between shadow and stone. Inside the cloister of Mont-Saint-Michel, I found myself looking less at the architecture than through it. Column after column, arch after arch, the perspective seemed to fold in on itself. The foreground disappeared almost completely into shadow, while a narrow passage of light remained at the far end. I liked that imbalance — the way such an intricate place could become so simple when reduced to darkness, repetition and a distant opening. Sometimes architecture doesn’t need to be seen all at once.
